QVI (Quarterly Vehicle Inspection) Driver Prep Checklist
Truck Exterior & Condition
- No body damage (wrecks, cracks, major dents)
- Truck is reasonably clean outside
- Mudflaps present and in good condition
- Reflective tape and devices intact
- D-rings on rear (2 total), undamaged and not rusty
- Pintle hook not bent or damaged
Tires & Lights
- Tires free of flat spots and have good tread
- All tractor lights working (headlights, high beams, turn signals, brake lights, hazards)
- Trailer light check completed by hooking to a trailer and verifying all signals and brake lights
Horn & Washer Fluid
- City horn works
- Air horn works
- Washer fluid filled and sprays windshield
Driver Book (Binder in Cab)
- Truck registration / cab card (first page)
- Proof of insurance
- CPM (Ryder Federal Annual Inspection)
- DOT Quick Guide (typically pages 4–5)
- Hazmat Quick Guide (2024 version required – 2020 books are expired)
Annual Inspection Proof
- Federal Annual Inspection sticker visible on the door frame or exterior of the truck
- OR a paper copy of the Federal Annual Inspection present in the cab
Safety Equipment
- Fire extinguisher mounted, secured, and fully charged (driver’s side)
- Three red reflective triangles present in the box (passenger side)
Reminder: Perform a full walk-around before inspection. Any missing, damaged, or non-functioning items must be corrected before presenting the truck. If FedEx identifies issues during the QVI, the vehicle may be placed out of service until corrected.
